Mycah's 30th Birthday!

Mom, Mycah and I went to LA to celebrate Mycah's 30th Birthday. We flew out first thing Thursday morning.

We stayed at The London in West Hollywood and our room was amazing!! We had two balconies with two different views. One of downtown LA and the other of the Hollywood Hills.

After we checked in, we went to The Ivy for lunch. As soon as we walked in, Mycah saw complimentary champagne and she was in Heaven. Not to mention all of the beautiful roses!

We shared a guacamole appetizer and an enchilada dish and they were both delicious!

After lunch, we headed over to Warner Brothers Studios for a tour.

It was neat to see everything in person. They were filming Gilmore Girls when we were there so it was fun to see those live sets. These are the stairs in the Friends episode at Monica and Ross's childhood home.

This is the Full House "House".

This was in one of their big prop warehouses. We saw a sign on it that it was reserved for Dancing With the Stars. And sure enough it was used in the first dance that following Monday. So cool!

I took these pictures for Bentley in one of the museums.

At the end of the tour, we walked through a museum where we got to hold a real Academy Award.

I of course had to take a picture with the Ellen sign. We drove past her studio but didn't get to see much. I bought a tank top and some Ellen underwear, but decided to wait and buy the Ellen hoodie when I actually get to see her show. Wishful thinking, I know.

And at the very end of the tour, we got to sit on the Friends' couch!!

After the tour, we were pretty exhausted from traveling, so we went back to the hotel and ordered room service and enjoyed our beautiful view!

On Friday morning, we had breakfast at the hotel and then went for a hike up Runyon Canyon. It was pretty warm and there wasn't any shade, but the view of the Hollywood sign was worth the hike!

After the hike, we headed over to The Grove. We had lunch at a french place in the Farmer's Market.

After lunch, we walked through The Grove. Mom had been looking for a new purse so we went into the Coach store. She and Mycah looked at a few things and then of course, Mom talked herself out of getting something for herself. We went in a few more stores and then on our way back through we talked Mom into going back in. As soon as we walked in, the two salespeople started laughing. One of the salespeople told the other that if we came back in, he would give us his 40% discount. We could not believe it. Now Mom had to get a new purse! She bought a purse, a wallet, a purse for Mycah for Christmas and a wallet for Dad! The stars were definitely aligned.

Oh and I got a complimentary bottle of water.

After shopping, we went over to Hollywood Boulevard to Graumen's Chinese Theater and the Walk of Fame. Mycah and I both agreed that we were glad we went to see it, but would never go back again. Too many people!!

We went back to the Hotel to shower and get ready to have drinks at the rooftop bar.

We ordered some Sushi for an appetizer and then decided to go back to the room and order room service for dinner again. The food was so good. Mom and I are still dreaming about the mushroom risotto!

Saturday was Mycah's actual birthday. We had presents waiting for her when she got out of the shower.

Mycah wanted a low key day on her actual birthday. Mom made brunch reservations in Malibu at Geoffrey's. We met Mom's BFF Karen and her daughter who live in the LA area. The view was amazing.

After we ate, we walked down to the beach so that Mycah could put her feet in the Pacific Ocean for the very first time! It was chilly!

After brunch we went to another bar/restaurant on the beach to enjoy the view a bit longer, and then we headed back to the hotel. I took these pictures from the car and little did Mycah know, we would be coming back...

For Mycah's birthday dinner, we surprised her with a VIP dinner at The Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

I can see why so many celebrities eat at The Polo Lounge. There is no paparazzi allowed and all of the tables are set back and secluded. The server wouldn't tell us who else was eating there when we were. They respect the celebrities' privacy. Speaking of celebrities, we only had two sightings while we were there. The first day, we were standing in front of our hotel waiting for Uber and Skylar Astin from Pitch Perfect got out of a car and walked into our hotel. He made eye contact with us and said Hi. I of course had no idea who he was and didn't think anything of it, but Mycah knew who he was right away. The other celebrity we saw was at The Polo Lounge. Michael Fox from Downtown Abbey was having dinner with his girlfriend at a table next to us. He too was very nice. He made eye contact and nodded at us when we walked by.

Unfortunately, the fun was over and we flew out first thing Sunday morning. We made it home in time for Bentley's soccer game. A big thank you to Dad, Grammy & Grampy for helping with the kids while we were in California. Mikey played in a golf tournament so they were a big help!

These were a few pictures I got while I was gone...
