Scrapbook Retreat

What a great 3 day weekend! Mikey went to Cedar Creek Lake this weekend, so Mom and Mycah came up to stay with me for a girls' weekend! Mom and I had our own little scrapbook retreat. We turned the media room/play room into a scrapbooking room for the weekend. We had tables set up with all of our supplies and our working areas. We finished 34 out of 42 pages! We also found time to shop, lay in the sun, do some swimming, cook some great meals and watch movies. It was a perfect girls weekend.

Once I found out I was pregnant, we knew that we needed to get my wedding scrapbook done in the next 10 months. Once the baby comes we know we will have plenty to keep us busy. Of course the baby will need a scrapbook. All throughout my wedding planning, we kept momentos from everything. We kept swatches, cards, invitations, and pictures we took of all of the events. It was so much fun going through everything and organizing it all. We only made two trips to Hobby Lobby.

For those of you who don't know what a wedding scrapbook is, my version is basically a recap of all of the events leading up to the wedding. We began with the engagement, covered all of the wedding planning, showers, bachelorette party, bridal portraits, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and went through the brunch on the Sunday after the wedding. We spent very little time on the actual wedding and reception which will be covered in our wedding album. By the way, we also met with Kevin on Monday to go through all of the changes for our wedding album. I am very excited about it. It will be beautiful. So anyway, back to the scrapbook. It was so much fun reliving all of the events, and we only have another day's worth of work, so it should be done just in time to begin the nursery =).

I have included some pictures of the pages. Only those of you who are as avid scrapbookers as my mom and me will appreciate them as much as we do, but I love sharing anyway! The first one is when we were dress shopping. The 2nd picture is of my bachelorette party, the 3rd one is of my bridal shower and the last one is of our couples' shower. It was so much fun to play off the invitations to all of the events. Anyone is welcome to come over and relive all of my pre-wedding events with me through my new scrapbook =).

Busy Weekend!

This weekend was busy. Saturday morning we headed over to Truckfest at Market Hall where our jeep was being shown, or displayed. I'm not really sure what the term is. We were like two parents going to our son's first tee ball game. It is so cool to think that in a couple years, we really could be taking our son to his first tee ball game. We have so much to look forward to with this new adventure! Until then, we are proud of the jeep. We even took pictures! Of course it was the best looking jeep there.

After Truckfest, we headed over to the Annual Aggie Crawfish Boil. I had not been in 4 years and Mikey had never been, so we were excited. It was at Firewater off of Northwest Highway and 35. It was a perfect place to have it. You can't beat ALL YOU CAN EAT & DRINK!! Even though I was not able to partake in either, Mikey ate enough crawfish for the both of us. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and the live music. It is amazing how many aggies are in Dallas. We are proud of our alma mater.

Saturday night, I met the girls for Shannon's Birthday Dinner. Shannon actually shares the same birthday as Mom. It is a very special day. Apparently, if you show up at Mi Cocina in West Village at 7pm on a Saturday night with 9 people and want to sit outside, there is a two hour wait. Luckily there is a big bar and enough Mambo Taxis to keep everyone happy until dinner. It was fun seeing everyone and catching up. The weather was perfect to sit outside. We had so much fun! Thanks for being born Shannon!

Sunday Mikey spent the day at Lake Lewisville and I had the girls over to the pool. It was another perfect day to lay in the sun. Sorry, no pictures of this day, but you can take my word for it. We got a great tan! Quick shout out to Christi! Dylan will be here in less than a month!!

I hope everyone has a great week!!

Mom's Birthday

Tuesday was Mom's birthday! We went to The Cantina Room on Lemmon for dinner. The atmosphere was great, very laid back and quiet. After dinner, we went over to the Social House in West Village for drinks. Luckily the weather held off and we were able to sit outside. It doesn't rain on Mom's birthday!!

Happy Mother's Day

On Sunday, Mikey brought me breakfast and gave me my first Mother's Day card. It was so sweet. We invited both of our families over to the house to celebrate. We laid by the pool, and Mikey cooked his famous hamburgers. We were a little confused whether or not we were supposed to celebrate yet, so I was included too, but I still tried to take care of the Mom's because next year I will be occupied with an infant!
It is so crazy to think that we will have a little one celebrating with us next Mother's Day. It will be a whole new ball game. Probably not the quiet relaxing day by the pool that we are accustomed to...it will be way more fun! Mikey heated up the hot tub for the Mothers and then we served them dessert, angel food cake with fresh strawberries and brownies with ice cream, yummy. Since the jeep was already muddy, Mikey took his Dad for a ride. Look at the size of this rock. Mikey said the jeep cleared it with room to spare. It looks like it was a bumpy ride.

Kyston's 3rd Birthday!

On Saturday, we went to Build-A-Bear at Stonebriar Mall for Kyston's 3rd Birthday party. We ate chic-fil-a in the food court, and then watched Kyston open all of his presents. He got tons of new cars!! After he opened all of his presents, we headed over to build-a-bear. Lesson learned, next time open presents after build-a-bear, so that the birthday boy doesn't ask to play with his cars in the bear store =). Here is a picture of Kyston before we got started. He looked so handsome with his hair fixed and his little ribbons on. He was definitely the star of the show!

All of the kids had a great time, including the big kids. Mikey and I took the opportunity to make something for our new baby. We decided on a Monkey. We named him George. On the way to the party, we had a name revelation!! Mikey came up with the name Braylen for our little boy, Bray for short. The more we talked about it, the more it gave me butterflies.

On the way over to Kavon & Anna's, Mikey decided to take me offroading in the jeep. Yes, the doors were off, and I was wearing a dress, but I decided to go with him anyway. He took me up this big hill. He took this picture of me at the top of the hill, it was a lot scarier going back down than it was going up.

There is a baby in my tummy!

As most of you know, Mikey and I are expecting our first baby in November. I went to the doctor today for my 14 week check up and everything looked great. I gained 3 pounds in the first trimester, my blood pressure was normal, and the baby's heart beat was 161 beats per minute. I love that sound =). I start my second trimester tomorrow.

Now for the best part. My doctor asked if I wanted to go back to the sonogram room and sneak a peak. This first picture is Mikey's favorite. You can see the head, the brain and it's cute little face. You can see the fingers and the thumb (gig 'em aggies). If you look closely, you can even see the little ribs. There really is a baby in my tummy!

She said that it may be a little early to see the sex, but we took a peak between the legs anyway and there was definitely something there! Mom and I both saw it right away. My doctor said there looks to be some "boy parts" growing down there, but she won't confirm it 100% until my 18 week ultra sound. Here is the "between the legs" picture. You can judge for yourself. It is kind of hard to see because I scanned the picture in, but it looks like his legs are facing upwards and there is a dot in between the legs. That dot is the "boy parts". Mikey is pretty proud of his boy at 14 weeks.

This last picture shows his little legs and feet too. Mikey and I are so excited. We have said from the beginning that we would be happy with either a boy or girl, we just pray every day for a healthy baby. It is so reaussuring to be through my first trimester and to have everything look and sound good. God has answered our prayers so far and we are so thankful. Seeing these pictures makes this incredible experience even more real.

Mikey and I will go back on June 3rd, for our 18 week checkup, ultra sound (which will confirm the sex), and the down syndrome test. Please keep us in your prayers during this very special time for us!

Lake Jacksonville

On Friday, Mikey and I packed up the Jeep and headed East to Lake Jacksonville. My Uncle Bruce & Aunt Lisa built a lake house last summer and we finally were able to pick a weekend that we could come spend with them. Mom, Dad & Mycah drove down too, so there were 9 of us.

Saturday, we had a delicious pancake breakfast and we spent the day laying on the deck in the sun. We finally got a picture of all of us. We are trying to get better at this when we are all together. We took a boat ride around the lake, but it was a little chilly. Saturday night, we had a big fish fry. We literally caught a fish, cleaned it, and threw it in the frier..talk about fresh fish!

Sunday was much warmer. We went joy riding on the jet skis and Mikey did some wake-boarding, which he decided gets harder as he gets older. The guy that took him out used to compete and he was awesome. He did all kind of grabs and flips (I don't know what they are called in wakeboarding terms), but he made them look so easy!

We packed the jeep back up and headed home. We had so much fun and it was so relaxing. The weather was gorgeous all weekend!

Yeah for Mycah!!

I have to take a moment to brag about my little sister, Mycah. She recently graduated from Ogle School of Hair and has started working Downtown at a salon called Jan's of Dallas in One Main Place. It is such an amazing opportunity for her. She will be shadowing the owner, along with the other stylists in the shop, until she is ready to be on her own. She is able to work a normal work-week (9am-5pm), and has Saturdays off. It is the best of both worlds. We are so proud and excited for her. For those of you who work downtown or are down in the tunnels on occasion for lunch, stop by and say hi. She is taking referrals if you know anyone in need of a new hair stylist!

Now that she has the job, she is excited about moving out on her own. Let the apartment hunting begin!!! Mom and I can't wait to help her find the perfect little apartment and help her decorate to make it her own.

This weekend we are off to the Mehlenbacher House on Lake Jacksonville for some family time and fun in the sun. Hopefully we won't come back with too many crazy stories. Have a great weekend and Happy May!
