Hilary's Bachelorette Party

One week from today, my beautiful friend, Hilary is getting married! We have been celebrating her over the last month and it has been so much fun!

We started the weekend with a mani and pedi at the Hawaiin Nail Bar. After a quick lunch, we went and checked in at the Ritz Carlton! Once we got into our Suite, we had a lingerie party for the bride. This is all you can see.....everything else is a suprise for the groom!

We went to dinner at St. Anne's. It was delicious and such a cool place. All of our food was amazing!

T's 30th Birthday!

One weekend in March (I am behind on blogging and trying to catch up), we went out in Fort Worth for my best friend, Trisha's, 30th birthday party. We went to dinner at Mi Cocina. The beautiful birthday girl!

We got her a beautiful ring for her 30th birthday present.

And of course we made her a scrapbook.

She absolutely loved it!

Trisha's Mom made fruit pizzas for dessert. She always made them for Trisha's birthday growing up. They were just as delicious as I remembered!

We walked over to 8.0's after dinner. The Fab 5!

Me and the birthday girl!

Classic! Lisa is pregnant with another baby girl and we can't wait to meet her!!

An 80's cover band played and they were awesome! The birthday girl up on stage!

Mommy and Daddie had a fun night out in Fort Worth.

Happy Birthday T! We love you so much and had a blast celebrating with you!

Diaper Cakes!

I have found a new hobby! Making diaper cakes! I have so many friends having babies lately. I thought it would be fun to "attempt" to make a diaper cake. They actually turned out pretty cute. I love them because they are super cute gifts and you can use all of their contents!

I made this one for our friends, The Belvins. This one has about 60 diapers. I had bought Charlotte some soft hangers that match her nursery for all of her pretty dresses, so I used them as her top tier. I covered it with the bunny blanket and hung pacifiers from the hangers.
It turned out really cute and girlie. Our signature on the back.

I made this one for my friend, Stacey's baby shower. We were out of town for her shower, so I thought it would be fun to make something she could use at the shower. This one I made out of all diapers. I think I used about 120.

I love the colors!

I had so much fun making them, and even more fun knowing that they were made for sweet precious babies! I look forward to experimenting and making more in the future!

Presley is Seven Months!

Pres is 7 months old! She is growing and changing so much!

We didn't have a checkup this month, so I don't have her measurements. She is still nursing and has tried all kinds of yummy foods. She now eats oatmeal, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, pears, spinach, plums, bananas and butternut squash (not all in one day of course, but she definitely would if we let her). She loves eating big girl food. She still yells for more the whole way through the meal. I feed her and Kiley together, so I have to take turns. Kiley patiently waits for her turn while Presley yells at me until she gets another bite. Next on the list is summer squash and zucchini. She is doing great with the sippy cup. She still has a little trouble tipping it up, but she does suck on it and gets out what she can. We have also introduced her to biter biscuits. She absolutely loves them and eats the entire thing! They are the messiest things I have ever seen, so now she only gets them if we can go straight to the bath tub afterwards. Speaking of baths, she is taking big girl baths with sister now.

We changed up her schedule. She now nurses 4 times a day (8am, 1230pm, 4pm and 8pm,) eats solids twice a day (830am & 630pm) and naps twice a day (1030am & 230pm). She has been sleeping well thru the night. We did have a few days where she was waking up in the middle of the night. After taking her to the doctor and knowing she wasn't sick, we concluded that she just wasn't comfortable in her pack n play anymore. Knowing now, that Kiley will be in her crib for quite a while longer, Marmee & Guy bought Presley her very own crib! We got her one exactly like sister's except it is white. They both convert into a full size bed, so we will have them for a very long time. We are decorating Presley's room in an owl theme. When it is finished, I will definitely post pictures! She has adjusted great to her new bed!

As for her development, she is a pro at sitting up. Can sit up for hours if Sister doesn't knock her over (which is usually the case). We have been working a lot on tummy time and crawling. She is getting closer! She has also begun to babble. She says dadadadadada, and it is starting to sound like she says gagagagaga. I think she is starting to figure out that crying gets her somewhere. She is still super smiley and always happy, but if she wants something, she knows crying gets it for her. I have to be careful not to cater too much to these demands. This mostly happens if we put her in her bouncer and walk out of the room. I think she is showing early signs of separation anxiety and would prefer to be in the room with us at all times. I try to keep her in her bumbo near whatever I may be doing. This works out pretty well as long as the tray is on and toys are around.

She is also doing very well holding objects in both hands at the same time and even transferring them back and forth. We have noticed that she has a short attention span with toys and likes a variety. Only having Sophie the Giraffe to chew on no longer cuts it. Everything still goes right to her mouth. I haven't seen any signs of teething yet, but we know it is in our future!

Presley is still full of personality and smiles. She loves her sister and they are interacting more and more. When she gets excited she waves her arms up and down. She has started giving hugs. When you pick her up, she wraps her arm around your neck and lays her head on your shoulder. It is so sweet. She has also started making this funny face where she scrunches her face up and breathes through her nose really fast. This is kind of a picture of it. I think it is absolutely adorable.

That's all for now. We will see what new and fun things she does in the next month!

Our 4 Year Anniversary

Last month, we celebrated our 4 year anniversary! This year it was my turn to plan. I kept it a suprise until the very last minute. I booked a night at the Ritz Carlton here in Dallas. I thought it would be fun for Mikey to think we were just giong to dinner or out for a few hours and then tell him we were staying out all night. Now that we have 2 little ones, we have realized how important Mommy & Daddie time is. I thought that our anniversary would be a perfect excuse to get away for the night. While he was at work Friday, I packed everything up and put it in the back of my truck. When he got home and went to change out of his work clothes, I put everything in his trunk.

When we got in the car, I told him that we had a room for the night. I did not make any other plans. I left it open so we could do whatever we want. We could stay in all night and watch movies, or go to dinner, or both!

We got to the hotel a little after 3pm. They told us our room wasn't ready yet. Of course Mikey took the opportunity to ask for an upgrade and sure enough, that is what we got! We got upgraded to a suite and were able to go straight up to our room!

King size bed and desk area.

Double sinks in the bathroom.

Huge closet and dressing area.

The TV was a little small for such a big room. You know how we love our big TVs.

The sitting area.

When I mentioned earlier that I packed up, I really packed up. I thought of every little detail. I wanted to make it comfortable and special for Mikey. I brought our magazines that we never have time to read and put them by the bed.

I also packed a bunch of snacks and breakfast for in the morning. I made his favorite spinach dip and I also brought our cups from home to drink out of. I brought enough to snack on where if we didn't want to leave the room, we wouldn't have to.

I packed our wedding napkins. We use them each anniversary.

I used our cards for decoration. I also packed an assortment of beverages to give Mikey a variety to choose from.

It worked out great that the A&M basketball game started a little after 3pm. So when we got up to the room, Mikey turned on the game while I unpacked everything. At halftime, we went down to the pool. It was a gorgeous day and so warm by the pool. We came back up to the room and watched the rest of the game.

After the game, we went downstairs to the lobby. Every day, they serve freshly made guacamole and mini margaritas to the guests. The guacamole was delicious. We took our margaritas outside and people-watched while we finished them.

After we were done, we decided to go walk around and find something for dinner. Since there is so much up in Addison, we don't get down to Uptown very much. It was so much fun, kind of like a vacation, except we still run the risk of running into people we know...I think they call it a "staycation". We ended up at the Common Table and it was delicious. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. We sat outside and had an appetizer and a couple of glasses of wine while we waited for our table. We ended up just having dinner out there too! It was so much fun.

After dinner, we went back to the room and watched our wedding video! It is so much fun to relive our special day together each anniversary.

We had such a fun time. It is no secret that I am not the romantic one in the relationship. I was really excited about planning a special anniversary for us this year and I have to say, I really outdid myself =). We enjoyed our time together, but of course couldn't wait to get back home to the girls. This is our only picture of the two of us. We are checking out.

We checked out a little early and stopped to get the girls a couple of summer outfits. Kiley doesn't have any shorts her size, so of course if I get Kiley something, I have to get a matching outfit for Presley! We had an early lunch and then went home to the girls. I love you so much honey. These 4 years have flown by. I can't wait to see you top this celebration next year. You better start planning now =).

mmmmm....spinach

Presley had spinach for the first time this week. She wasn't super excited about the new texture, but she ate all of it like a trooper and with a smile on her face.

Biter Biscuits!

Presley had her first "finger food" last week. During Kiley's lunch, I gave Presley a biter biscuit to see what she would do with it. She loved it!

We are hoping that as Presley develops and advances that it will help Kiley as well. I gave Kiley a biscuit too!

She mouthed it for a while, just like Sister. She didn't quite get as down and dirty as her sister, but it was progress!

Presley loved showing off for the camera with her big girl food.

When I say dirty, I mean dirty. Those things are soooo messy! Biter biscuit was everywhere! It took me longer to clean her up than it took her to eat it!
