Presley is Five Months!

Yesterday, Presley turned 5 months old, and she is changing and growing so much!

The last month has been a great one! We have made a lot of progress! Since Kiley has been out of school, we have all been healthy! With the girls healthy again, we knew it was time for sleep training. Since Kiley had been so sick, she had developed some bad sleep habits and Presley didn't have any sleep habits. If we were going to go through the process, we might as well do them both at the same time. We decided to go with the Ferber method for the sleep training. It is still a work in progress, but the girls have done amazing! Kiley is back to sleeping 12 hours a night and taking a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. We have Presley on the Baby Wise schedule from 830am to 830pm. She nurses every 3 hours, plays and then naps, and she is sleeping 12 hours at night just like her big sister. We decided to put her in the guest bedroom to sleep, since Kiley is still in her crib. The sleep training would have been impossible if they were in the same room. I have also worked on the girls' schedules where I actually have an hour to myself each day where both girls are napping at the same time. The sleep training takes so much dedication and it hurts our hearts to hear our girls' cry, but it makes a world of difference. They are healthy and well rested and it is wonderful!

Over the last couple of weeks, Presley has also started rice cereal. We do one feeding of cereal each evening when Kiley is having her dinner. I was hesitant to start the cereal because nursing is so easy and hassle free, and adding another feeding wasn't too appealing, especially in addition to Kiley's 3 feedings each day. I ended up breaking down and trying the cereal on one of our snow days. She has taken to it really well. She loves eating like her big sister! It made me realize how fast she is going to develop because she is going to want to do everything her sister does. She even picks up Kiley's cup and tries to drink from it. We aren't quite ready for that yet! Slow down Pres.

I don't have any growth stats this month since we didn't have a checkup. She has rolls in all of the appropriate places and her cheeks are still as chubby as can be. She is definitely well fed. She is in size 2 diapers and she has pretty much grown out of all of her 0-3 months clothes.

Her personality gets more animated by the day. She seriously has the biggest smiles I have ever seen. She is such a happy baby! She loves to squeal, squeak and laugh! She and Kiley go back and forth. It is so adorable. She is handling all of her toys with so much control, and EVERYTHING goes in her mouth. She still has not rolled from back to front, but she goes from side to side really well. She is also very close to sitting up. She keeps her balance for a few seconds and then ends up on her tummy. She just needs a little more work =).
